The Enhanced edition uses a new asset format (gen9). Nearly every older tutorial that tells you to replace files inside an rpf simply does not apply — and following one can break your install.
The correct order
- Switch the client to the Enhanced edition
- Install the Enhanced environment required component first (framework, toolbox, game config)
- Pick mods marked for Enhanced in the market and use one-click install
- Launch the game and verify
What does not work
- Older packages without Enhanced support — maps, vehicle replacements and graphics packs most of all
- Ped models that need gen9 conversion: they install, but a few models end up invisible after conversion
Two common problems
- Invisible character: spawns and animates but cannot be seen — see the troubleshooting article
- Crash on launch: usually a Legacy replacement pack installed into Enhanced, or a missing component
